How the Calculations Work

Calendar-date tools use Gregorian leap-year rules and date-only UTC arithmetic to avoid daylight-saving date shifts. The Week Number tool follows ISO 8601 and also displays a US Sunday-start alternative. Hours From Now uses elapsed time in your device time zone. The time-zone tool distinguishes fixed standard time from seasonal DST-aware conversions.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I calculate the time between two dates?

Select the first and second dates in Date Duration. The result shows years, months, days and total days; you can choose to include the end date.

Can the Days Since calculator count future dates?

Yes. If your selected event is after the comparison date, the calculator shows the days remaining instead of days passed.

Are weekends included when I add days?

Calendar days include every day. In the weekday-only option, Saturdays and Sundays are skipped, but holidays are not excluded.

What is the ISO week-numbering rule?

ISO weeks begin Monday and week 1 contains the first Thursday of the year. An early-January day can belong to the previous ISO week-year.

When is a year a leap year?

A Gregorian year is a leap year when divisible by four, except century years not divisible by 400.

Does Hours From Now account for daylight saving?

It adds elapsed hours to your device’s local time. If a daylight-saving transition occurs, the displayed clock-time jump is reflected.

Is EST always three hours ahead of PST?

Fixed EST (UTC−5) is always three hours ahead of fixed PST (UTC−8). In seasonal US ET/PT, their offsets can briefly differ during DST transition hours.

Why are some DST conversion times invalid or repeated?

Spring transitions skip some local clock times; autumn transitions repeat some. Automatic mode flags missing source times and identifies repeated ones.

Results are calculated in your browser and are not uploaded to this website. Date-only tools use the Gregorian calendar. Time-zone results depend on the browser’s available time-zone database.
