Pet Age Calculator
Compare a dog or cat’s age with an illustrative human-age equivalent.

Human-equivalent pet ages are illustrations, not direct biological conversions. Dog breed, size and health influence aging. For a species-specific breakdown use the Dog Age or Cat Age calculator.
Important: Animal age comparisons are educational estimates, not veterinary advice.
How does the Pet Age Calculator work?
Choose dog or cat, enter full years and extra months, and click Calculate. The result compares your pet’s real age with a broad human-age-equivalent illustration, plus a life-stage indication. Breed differences make these comparisons approximate.
Are seven pet years equal to one human year?
No. Puppies and kittens mature particularly quickly, and a simple multiply-by-seven rule is not reliable.

Dog Age Calculator

Our age-equivalent model is a simplified educational comparison, not an AAHA diagnostic formula. Dog life stages are better judged with breed, adult size and a veterinarian.
Important: Animal age comparisons are educational estimates, not veterinary advice.
How is dog age estimated?
A simplified dog chart uses approximately 15 human years for age one and 24 at age two, followed by different illustrative annual increments for small, medium, large and giant dogs. Breed-based models can be more accurate.
Why does dog size matter?
Larger breeds generally have different aging patterns and often become senior earlier than small breeds.

Cat Age Calculator
Convert cat years to approximate human years and view feline stages.
Calculate Cat Age

Cat estimates follow common feline age-chart points: around 15 human years at 1, 24 at 2, then roughly +4 per cat year. The life-stage names follow the 2021 AAHA/AAFP guidance.
Important: Animal age comparisons are educational estimates, not veterinary advice.
How are cat years converted?
Common feline charts place a 1-year-old cat near 15 human years and a 2-year-old near 24. Years after that add about four; we interpolate earlier milestones for kittens.
When is a cat considered senior?
The 2021 AAHA/AAFP guidance identifies cats over 10 years as seniors. Individual health may differ.

Tree Age Calculator
Estimate a tree’s age from trunk girth without cutting the tree.
Calculate Tree Age
Enter your details to get instant results.
Measure circumference around the trunk at about 1.3 m (4.5 ft) above ground. For many temperate broadleaf trees, the Royal Forestry Society suggests a rough 1.5–2.5 cm of girth growth per year. Species and site conditions can vary greatly.
Important: Tree age is approximate and depends on measurement and environmental conditions.
How does tree girth estimate tree age?
Divide trunk circumference in centimeters by an assumed annual increase in girth (for example 120 cm ÷ 2 cm/year = 60 years). This is an approximation for suitable trees, not a dendrochronological count.
Can girth give an exact tree age?
No. Species, exposure, soil, climate, damage and competition change growth rates. Tree-ring analysis gives more direct evidence.

Planetary Age Calculator
See how old you are on Mercury, Venus, Mars and more planets.
Calculate Planetary Age
Enter your details to get instant results.
A planetary year is one trip around the Sun. Ages use elapsed Earth days divided by the planet’s approximate orbital period; this is not a forecast of birthdays or health.
Important: Orbital periods are rounded reference values; results are approximate.
How is planetary age calculated?
Count elapsed Earth days since birth and divide by each planet’s approximate orbital period. A year on Mars is about 687 Earth days; a year on Neptune about 60,190 Earth days.
Why is my age different on Mars?
Mars takes longer to orbit the Sun than Earth, so the same elapsed time spans fewer Martian years.

About These Pets & Nature Tools
All calculations run in your browser without submitting birth dates or measurements to a server. Pet-to-human age charts are comparisons, not a veterinary diagnosis. Tree age estimates use a growth-rate assumption, and planetary ages use NASA’s approximate year lengths. Explore sources below to learn where those assumptions come from.
